Best move for all parties – Why West Ham must offload this 31-year-old international ace before the transfer deadline

Why West Ham selling Javier Hernandez would be good for them

According to a report in Sun, West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez has handed in a transfer request to force through a move to Sevilla before the end of the European transfer window.

The 31-year-old Mexico international, who has played for Manchester United in the past, knows that he is down in the pecking order at the London Stadium, especially after the arrivals of Sebastian Haller and Albian Ajeti. (h/t Sun)

As per the report (h/t Daily Mail), Sevilla are trying to push through a move to sign the player. He will do everything in his might to make sure that the deal is done smoothly. A fee around £8m is said to be agreed between both parties. (h/t Sun)

West Ham signed Hernandez in 2017 and since he has scored 17 goals in 63 appearances, most of those appearances coming off the bench.

Here’s why it would be win-win deal for the Hammers if they sell the striker on time during this window:

West Ham could get money and offload a fringe player

Since arriving at West Ham, Javier Hernandez hasn’t been a regular starter under any manager at the club. His goal returns had been good off the bench, but could never replicate that when given a start.

The Mexican international is a solid player but his movements can be static at times. He has scored all of his goals in the Premier League from inside the box, which is good and bad in its own way.

From the Hammers’ point of view, after signing Haller, it was clear that Manuel Pellegrini would have him as his first-choice striker, with Ajeti and others around becoming the backup options.

They are right to sell Hernandez before the European transfer deadline. By doing this, the club would offload one of their fringe players for decent money in exchange.

Conclusion

Thus, we can conclude by saying that West Ham are the beneficiaries from a potential sale of Javier Hernandez to Sevilla.
