Is This The Best Looking Liverpool – Villarreal Combined XI?

The Europa League semi-finals are set and the whole world is awaiting the much-anticipated clash between Liverpool and Villarreal. Villarreal comes into this match after a 6-3 aggregate win over Sparta Praha. Liverpool comes into this match on the back of one of the most entertaining Europa league clashes ever. Both the teams look to be amongst goals and we can expect a high goal scoring entertainer when both the teams face each other.
Both Liverpool and Villarreal had some good individual performers who eventually led to the success of their individual teams. Let us pick the best from both the sides based on their recent performances and make a combined XI.

FORMATION: 4-3-3

GOALKEEPER: Simon Mignolet-

He does seem to be a bit average at times. But at times, he seems to be absolutely brilliant. He was particularly brilliant in the match against Dortmund. Even though Liverpool conceded a few goals, Mignolet was still good and saved quite a few Dortmund chances.

RIGHT BACK: Nathaniel Clyne-

Good hard working right back. Clyne seems to run like a fresh horse at all times. The defender is also good going forward and creates a lot of chances. His performance was brilliant towards the later stages of the Dortmund game.

CENTRE BACKS: Mamadou Sakho, Eric Bertrand-

The Frenchman has been absolutely brilliant for Liverpool in recent times. His performances have been better in the Europa League. He looked like a defensive rock against United and was brilliant in the later stages of the Dortmund game.

The Ivorian (Eric Bertrand) has been quite good for Villarreal this season and at times has looked like a solid centre back. Even at just 22 years of age, he has looked quite comfortable in marking opponent strikers and keeping them off the ball. He almost delivered a man of the match performance in the second leg against Sparta Praha.

LEFT BACK: Alberto Moreno-

The 23-year-old Spaniard has impressed us quite a few times with his impressive play. He is good going forward in attack and also falls back very quickly to prevent opponent attacks. He was extremely good in marking Mkhitaryan in the Dortmund game.

MIDFIELDERS: James Milner, Philippe Coutinho, Denis Suarez-

Milner is absolutely amazing almost wherever you play him on the field. He delivered a captain’s performance in the last match against Dortmund and heaped in a lot of praise from Klopp. The Englishman is a versatile player is often seen marshalling his fellow players on the field.

The Brazillian (Coutinho) has been in fine form all season. He has been fast, creative, scoring goals and winning hearts. He has been equally good in both Europe and EPL. Even when the whole team is producing an average performance, Coutinho looks to work hard and be an example for his fellow players.
The 22-year-old Spaniard has looked breathtaking at times. He normally plays in a right midfielder role and goes in right behind the striker in an attacking move. The Spaniard put in a stellar performance in the second leg game against Sparta Praha.

ATTACKERS: Roberto Firminio, Cedric Bakambu, Divock Origi-

Since the arrival of Klopp, Firmino has been breathing fresh air and producing good performances. The Brazilian looks good in attack and links well with his fellow attackers. He has scored quite a few goals and is good on the creative front as well. His trickery seems to confuse defenders most of the times.
The Congolese has become a new fan favourite for Villarreal supporters. The talented striker has been in goals of late. He has scored 2 goals each in both the legs against Sparta Praha. Bakambu looks like a typical centre forward who boasts of great strength.
Same goes for Belgian Origi. The forward has become a new favourite among Liverpool faithful’s and has roped in quite a few goals in recent weeks. The Belgian has looked like a terror in front of opponent goal and provides a threat to the opponent defenders.
