The Yorkshire Derby saw Leeds United slip a place down on the log following their 3 – 2 loss at Oakwell at the hands of a brilliant Barnsley side.
Chris Wood bagged his 15th goal in the 18th minute with a tap in, but the hosts replied just before halftime via Tom Bradshaw’s header. And that was all Barnsley needed to get off to winning ways, as 2 more quick goals in the 48th and 54th minute saw them take a 2-goal lead.
Leeds pulled one back via Wood from the penalty spot after Mike Dean deemed defender Marc Roberts, to have handed the ball in the box, but replay showed he was just outside the area.
The result ended Leeds 6-game unbeaten league run, allowing Huddersfield to move to 3rd on the table.

Green
The hosts’ free-scoring spree continued but the goalie can’t be blamed for any of the 3 goals as he made few saves to keep a respectable scoreline.

Charlie Taylor’s stand-in wasn’t able to deputize well being a natural right footer, with the Swiss having to often move the ball infield as a result.

Coyle
Despite a great performance against Derby the last timeout, the young right-back’s struggles were highlighted against the hosts, with him unable to keep Ryan Kent well in check for the 2nd goal.

Ayling
The right-back obviously struggled in his centre defence role as he found Adam Armstrong a tricky customer.
Playing him as a makeshift says a lot about Leeds lack of depth in that position.

Bartley
It was mixed halves for the centre-back who didn’t close down his man well for the equalizer that turned the game on its head, but his impressive displays in the 2nd half helped keep things in shape at the back.
It wasn’t enough at the end.

Pablo Hernández
Gave an assist with a great corner for Leeds first goal and delivered great set pieces, but was missing afterwards as Barnsley took charge of the game and made things hard for the Spaniard.

Ronaldo Vieira
The teenage midfielder was below par in the middle as the hosts ran the game and prevented him from seeing much of the action, leading to his withdrawal with some 20 minutes to go.

Bridcutt
Made few tackles but his influence hugely reduced as the game became intense as he found the hosts too much to handle in the midfield.

Roofe
His foul led to the freekick which Hourihane converted to seal Leeds’ defeat, while his attacking foray left little to be desired.
Came close to getting an equalizer in the dying minutes of the game.

Wood
Bagged a brace with well-executed shots to put his season’s tally across all competitions to 19.
Much couldn’t have been asked of him in what was a solid performance which was unfortunately not enough to secure any point for the team.

Pedestrian display from the winger who was largely missing all game and constantly lost possession the few times he managed to have the ball.

Steadied the ship as Leeds improved slightly upon his introduction, but it was too little too late.
