Predicted Newcastle United line-up to face Man United in the PL

A struggling and out of form Newcastle United play another struggling club, Manchester United, at Old Trafford this Saturday. The Magpies are languishing at 18th place in the table with just two points from the seven games played.

To be fair to them, they have already faced Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in the opening few weeks.

Hence, judging their season on the basis of losses against big teams won’t be fair. Rafa Benitez’s men now face another big team in Manchester United, who are in dire straits at the moment. The home team desperately need a win and therefore, it won’t be easy for the visitors.

Team News

Salomon Rondon is ruled until the end of the international break while DeAndre Yedlin, Paul Dummett and Federico Fernandez are doubts for Saturday. As a result, Benitez won’t have many options to pick his line-up from.

Probable Newcastle United XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Rafa Benitez

Martin Dubravka (GK)

One of the shining lights in a rather dark team. Dubravka’s saves always help Newcastle in difficult situations.

Jamaal Lascelles

Javier Manquillo (RB)

With Yedlin expected to be out, we may see Manquillo get a start at Old Trafford.

Jamaal Lascelles (CB)

The captain needs to step up and motivate his team to perform better to try and get points on the board.

Ciaran Clark (CB)

With injuries to Fernandez and Lejeune, Clark should partner Lascelles at the heart of the Newcastle defence.

Kenedy (LB)

The Brazilian played at left-back last week and didn’t look too comfortable. However, with Dummett sidelined, he may have to continue there.

Jonjo Shelvey

Jacob Murphy (LW)

Murphy did well after coming off the bench against Leicester, expect him to start this game against United.

Jonjo Shelvey (CM)

If the Magpies are hoping to get a point or a win at Old Trafford, they need Shelvey to be at his best on the day.

Mohamed Diame (CM)

Diame needs to do his defensive work well playing against a big team who is desperate for a win.

Matt Ritchie (RW)

Ritchie’s delivery from the wide areas could be crucial for the team in such an away game where they are expected to get very less possession.

Matt Ritchie

Ayoze Perez (CAM)

Perez must step up and perform in his attacking midfield position. The Spaniard also needs to support the striker and help the midfield when required.

Joselu (ST)

In the absence of Rondon, Joselu needs to score goals and be a proper No.9 in the team.
