Bayern Munich celebrate the opening week of the Oktoberfest with a victory over Schalke 04 and remain in the top of the table.
The Bavarians broke through the Schalke defense early in the second half thanks to a 55th minute strike from Toni Kroos which was then doubled by Thomas Muller after just three minutes of the first goal. The game failed to live up to its pre-match expectation as the first half was a drag of possession between both the clubs only to lose the ball in the final third. With two of the Bundesliga’s heavyweights both aiming to preserve unbeaten records, it was hardly surprising that chances were few and far between.
With a dissapointing campaign last season, Bayern have started out brightly this season and their confidence seems to be growing every match. Bayern looks ready to make sure they do not give up a repeat of last season to anyone.
