According to the Sun, Barcelona are leading the race to sign Fluminense teenage talent Joao Pedro.
The Brazilian wonderkid is due to join Watford next year and the Catalans are confident they can prevent his move to Premier League. Manchester United and Liverpool are also in the transfer race for the 17-year-old.
The 17-year-old has taken the Brazilian Serie A by storm. He has bagged a total of 5 goals and an assist in Copa do Brasil and Copa Sudamericana.
Now, it looks obvious why Hornets signed Pedro ahead of other clubs. Primarily a centre-forward, he is also capable of playing on the wings.
With Luis Suarez, entering his 30’s, it remains unclear as to who will take over his role in the future. While there are only a few options left in reserves squad, the Catalans can count on Pedro.
Though the Brazilian prodigy can be expected to start with the Barca’s B team, he has the ability to break into the first-team as he has already shown with his current team, Fluminense.
Pedro holds the typical Brazilian archetype with good dribbling skills and finishing technique. Indubitably, he can follow the footsteps of his compatriot Neymar, who had a great impact with the Blaugrana.
