Ba-to-Chelsea appears to be the shortest-lived transfer rumor of recent years. 18hrs after Sky kicked it off, they seem to have killed it.
Demba Ba now appears unlikely to join Chelsea after “unproductive talks” last night, Sky Sports News are reporting.
This was the twitter post by the Sky Sports Journalist Tw:
“Ba’s demands have put off Chelsea, one of the richest clubs in the world. Says it all really. #cfc #nufc”
Due to issues with one of his knees, Ba agreed to a basic weekly salary at Newcastle of £20,000 with another £20,000 on top for appearances.
Chelsea were willing to double his pay but it is believed he wanted a fee close to £70,000 which the London club felt was high.
This has opened the doors for the like of Arsenal and Liverpool, both clubs in need of a poacher and also QPR who are trying to sign anyone possible who will help them stay in the top flight.
