Ba Set For Chelsea; Paulinho Next in Line. No Falcao,Villa or Fellaini This Time For The Blues

While Chelsea were playing Everton on Sunday, Demba Ba’s agents were in talks with the Chelsea representatives. We believe that only a medical is left. Ba who earlier failed a medical at Stoke before joining Newcastle United, has a chronic knee problem. Though that had never caused a major problem so far, Chelsea will be wary of that and have made it clear to Ba that he will be playing second fiddle to Torres. In other words, filling in the shoes of Sturridge, who is set to join Liverpool once the transfer window opens. Now that Chelsea are set to buy Ba, the possibilities of buying a third striker look bleak.

Can we see Ba in Chelsea colors?

Since Chelsea is a club that plays with only 1 striker in the 4-2-3-1 formation, they will be satisfied with Torres as the main striker and Ba as the second choice. They will also get Lukaku next year who is currently on loan to West Brom and is having a good season so far. So the likes of David Villa and Falcao who were linked with a move to the London Club will not make it. And also, Falcao himself stated that he wishes to finish off the season with Atletico and would think about moving to another club only at the end of this season.

Chelsea are next going to bid for Paulinho, the Corinthians midfielder. This could be a potential replacement for Frank Lampard.

This move still seems to be unnecessary as Chelsea already have a wide range of central midfielders available.  With Mikel and Ramires the first choice men, David Luiz has also adapted extremely well in that role. And with Oscar more than capable of playing there, Chelsea already have 4 players filling that role.Even if Lampard leaves the club, Chelsea should be able to do just fine with the available men.

They also have an option of calling back their loaned out midfielders. A few young talents loaned out are Josh McEachran and Nathaniel Chalobah. But a more proven midfielder is Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne. Currently on loan to Werder Bremen, De Bruyne is a regular starter at the German club scoring 4 goals and having assisted 6 times in this half season.  They also have Romeu in the future who is currently sidelined due to injury.

Even if they decide to buy a midfielder, the most likely one is Paulinho which dents the chances of Fellaini moving to the Bridge.
