AVFC News: Aston Villa considering a move for Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe

Aston Villa News: Aston Villa are eyeing up a move for Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe, according to Football Insider.

Dean Smith is currently planning for reinforcements after the Villains earned the promotion to Premier League next season.

Roofe, 26, was Marcelo Bielsa’s primary striker option before he suffered a brief layoff due to an injury.

He has bagged 15 goals and 2 assists in 33 appearances and his absence played a key role behind the Whites’ promotion slump.

The former West Bromwich Albion star also won the EFL player of the month once earlier this season.

After spending frustrating spells over the course and without making any main team appearances for the Baggies, Roofe found his feet once he opted to move to Elland Road in 2016.

Though he looked lackadaisical in his debut campaign with the Whites, the Jamaican made certain progress in the subsequent seasons.

Villa’s search for Chelsea-bound Tammy Abraham

The Lions benefited highly from the existence of Tammy Abraham who bagged 26 goals and 3 assists this season. In fact, his goal tally shattered the club’s record for the most number of goals in a season over a decade.

However, the 21-year-old’s future at Villa Park is up in the air as he is eager to be a starter for his parent club the Blues.

With that being said, the Blue and Claret army are in the quest of a quality striker to fill Abraham’s void and also can survive the temperament in England’s top flight.
