The Ivory Coast striker was absent in the last two matches, owing to a rib injury.

Yet, his return was perfect, as he scored the only goal of the game against Millwall, which saw the Lions go ten matches without a draw or a defeat.

Benefitting from a key pass of Jack Grealish, the 28-year-old netted the goal with a straight forward finish.

Kodjia has scored eight goals so far this season in more than 30 appearances.

The former Bristol City striker joined Villa Park in 2016 but  injuries hindered his progress at the club

Dean Smith was able to broke the club’s previous record of a nine-match winning streak, which was set in 1910.

The Lions are now fifth in the Championship table, trailing West Brom by 2 points.

Earlier this year, Villa suffered a dip in form and their promotion hopes looked impossible to achieve.

With the return of Grealish to the side, things straightened out. They are now looking optimistic about a place in the Premier League next season.
