Why This Australian Midfielder Would Be Perfect For Arsenal?

The need to bring fresh blood into the Arsenal team seems to be heading a little down south. The Gunners have been linked with a move for 23-year-old Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic and the Australian has impressed this season for the Hoops by leading their scoring charts, even though he is a midfielder.

Rogic is in the final year of his contract and this could be the last chance Celtic has of cashing in on their exceptional midfielder. The Aussie has been linked with moves to Spain and Germany but Arsenal could steal the target since Arsene Wenger has been told by ex-Reading boss Brian McDermott about Rogic’s capabilities.

There are a number of Arsenal players, especially in midfield who could be sold at the end of the season or even leave the club as their contracts are ending. Arsenal also have a problem with a certain Theo Walcott who just does not seem to be firing at all.

Rogic is a versatile midfielder who can play in attack or wide as well, though his preferred position is just behind the striker and most importantly, he could turn out to be a great squad player for now. The Aussie is already an international and has represented Australia in various World Cup qualifiers as well.

The Celtic man is known for his running and is technically gifted for someone thing young. He can also set up plays which would suit Arsenal very well since most of the chances do come from the feet of Mesut Ozil, Rogic could be someone to share that workload and help out the German in the team.

He is also someone who does not back down from a challenge, the grit and determination is evident in the 23-year-old and he would certainly add a lot of bite into the Arsenal midfield, something which has been lacking every time Francis Coquelin misses out on a game.

Arsenal could do with someone like Tim Cahill in the side, not backing down and taking on the opposition. Even though Rogic isn’t the best player out there, there are enough signs to show that he can go on to become one of Australia’s best ever players. That is a big statement to make given the quality of players they have had over the years but it should be a gamble Arsene Wenger must be willing to take.

Rogic would not cost Arsenal more than 3-4 million pounds, which is peanuts in this day and age of football. The Australian would be a great addition to the side and would certainly become a star in the years to come.
