Aston Villa opinion: Should Villa loan out Callum O’Hare again?

Aston Villa are on course to make it to the playoffs at the end of this Championship season. The Villans retained 5th spot after an impressive 2-1 victory against 6th placed Bristol City and with 4 games left to play, they should make it over the line.

Tammy Abraham has been on fire for Villa up front and along with Jack Grealish, he has been one of Villa’s standout players so far this season. The biggest problem for Dean Smith will be to keep hold of these players in the summer.

Tammy Abraham is expected to return to Chelsea on completion of his loan deal and Villa’s chances of getting him next season are considerably slim, especially after interest in the youngster from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Jack Grealish, just like last season, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur in the hunt.

The 23-year-old has been a pivotal part of Dean Smith’s side this season, having scored 5 goals and provided 5 assists despite missing 13 games due to a Shinbone injury.

Losing Grealish will be a massive blow for the Villans and they would desperately require a replacement in that midfield role. One player who can help ease that transition in attacking midfield is Villa’s own Callum O’Hare.

The 20-year-old has been hugely impressive for lower league Carlisle United, where he has been on loan since February. O’Hare has a goal and 2 assists in his 10 starts for the club and manager Steven Pressley has been hugely impressed with his performances.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Pressley expressed his desire to have the young midfielder back at Brunton Park next season but Villa should be completely against the move and must keep him at Villa Park next season.

O’Hare is a Villa youth product, having come through their ranks, but he is yet to get a senior start for the club. The youngster made the matchday squad on 6 occasions for Villa but was then sent out on loan in the January transfer window.

He is hugely versatile and is capable of playing anywhere across central midfield. His vision at such a young age is extremely impressive and his ability to pick out teammates on the run makes him an exciting product to look forward to in the coming years.

O’Hare is by no means ready to be the first choice at Villa but the youngster has the potential to do that with regular game time. Dean Smith can certainly help him develop and fulfil his potential, and being around an experienced first-team squad will have a massive impact on his game.

Conclusion

Aston Villa should keep Callum O’Hare with the first-team next season and the youngster deserves a chance to show the fans what he is capable of. The 20-year-old, with regular game time, can become a star for Villa in the coming years and Dean Smith should make it a point to give him a proper run next season.
