Why Aston Villa should bring back Andre Green to really push for promotion

At the start of the season, Aston Villa looked an extremely strong prospect for promotion. They had made multiple strong signings and some very shrewd loan deals for talented young players. They’ve loaned in players like Tammy Abraham of Chelsea, Axel Tuanzebe of Manchester United and even Andre Moreira from Atletico Madrid.

But as it turns out, Villa have only been able to win 9 of their 26 games so far this season. While they have had no problem scoring goals, their defending hasn’t been up to the standard.

They have already scored 49 goals this term but have conceded 40, which the most out of all teams in the first 14 places of the Championship.

They have been quite inconsistent in their performances and have backed up high scoring draws with disappointing losses at home. With 11 draws already this term, it’s beginning to seem like they’re missing something. With all the striking capabilities, if the supply were to improve in consistency, it certainly wouldn’t hurt.

They must think about jumping into the transfer market to acquire a player to turn their fortunes around. While they will obviously be prioritising the defence given the circumstances, an attacker to increase the imagination of their forward play will also be helpful.

The Sun are reporting that Aston Villa are considering recalling Andre Green from his loan deal at Portsmouth to try and make a strong push to finish in the playoff spots.

He is an Aston Villa academy product who built his way up the ranks to the first-team before being shipped out to Pompey.

He is an exciting young player who has scored 5 goals in the last few months and has caught the eye of the Villa faithful. He has been in really good form recently and has played a key part in keeping Pompey 5 points clear at the top of League One.

His pace and dribbling skills down the left flank will be extremely useful to get the Villa attack firing on all cylinders consistently. His movement and attacking prowess will certainly be very effective when deployed in this talented Villa side.

Whether or not this move is made, there’s no questioning that Green is a wonderfully talented youngster who has the capabilities to increase the attacking threat of any top Championship team. If given the right kind of nurturing and development, he can be a star player for them in the future.
