Aston Villa News: Aston Villa show interest in Liam Lindsay of Barnley

Aston Villa News: According to the Sun (h/t HITC), Championship side Aston Villa are interested in signing defender Liam Lindsay from Barnsley.

The former Patrick Thistle player is now on the radar of Dean Smith who looks to reinforce Villa’s defence. The report also states the cost of the central defender would be around £2.5 million.

The Scottish defender has been a key figure for the League One side this season in pursuit of promotion.

Lindsay has made 31 appearances so far helping his side to concede only 28 goals which is the fewest in League One.

The defender has also provided a helping hand to his side by racking up 15 clean sheets this season.

Why Villa should pursue

Dean Smith needs more defensive options as players like Tyrone Mings and Kortney Hause out on loan.

Lindsay has firsthand experience in the Championship with 42 appearances and the defender wouldn’t find it difficult to adopt.
