The new plan to shed out players who are above 30, is because of the desire shown by Roman Abramovich to capture the Premier league trophy, which is the only major trophy left to win under  Abramovich’s era.  The talks are said to be ongoing and there is quiet confidence between both parties that a deal will eventually be struck for a player who has been influential in Chelsea’s success.

Chelsea have already found Cole’s long term successor in the form of Ryan Bertrand, who recently signed a new long term contract which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2017.

Ashley Cole has made a total 250 appearances for the Blues scoring 6 goals. And last season made an impressive 37 appearances and contributed to the FA Cup and Champions league success.
