It’s only been two weeks since the January transfer window shut down and Arsenal fans had yet another disappointing window in terms of players brought in. David Villa, Edinson Cavani, Diame and several others were strongly linked and Arsene Wenger ended up signing a left back from Malaga to replace injured Keiran Gibbs, not even a single pundit could judge Arsenal will sign Nacho Monreal.
It’s the time of the season where every match is important and football is what needs to be concentrated on rather than speculating on the transfers. However, the team surely needs some new faces and judging by players’s popularity amongst the fans, we will look at what are the players that are in the summer transfer wish-list and for part one, we will look at the strikers.
The unthinkable duo:
First and foremost the two strikers that comes to everyone’s mind are Falcao and Cavani and though Cavani has been linked with Arsenal in the past, the chances of Arsenal signing him less than negligible. Arsene Wenger will never go in for players with such high price tags. To talk about Falcao, Arsenal fans could only dream about the striker playing at the Emirates. Most probably he will play at the Emirates next season, either with a Chelsea or a Manchester City away jersey.
The chosen one:
Another probability is Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic. He has what it takes to be an Arsenal player. He is Young, versatile and getting better with every season. Whilst he may not have many friends at the club, Jovetic could be the leading man at the club for years to come. Also and most importantly he will be available in the summer, probably for around £25 million. That would smash the Gunners’ transfer record, but to compete next season they at-least need to do buy one star who can combine with the likes of Podolski, Cazorla and Wilshere to form a deadly partnership upfront.
Jovetic is 23 and the only question to be asked is whether he could adapt the wear and tear of English football.
The Experienced:
Arsenal and a certain David Villa was the talk of the transfer window. The striker, who just turned 31 will surely add a much needed experience to the Arsenal front-line. More than the experience, the name “Villa” is only enough to create a sense of fear amongst the opposition.
There was heated debates going on about the Spanish striker whether he could add anything to Arsenal’s armory. To sum-up, Villa has still got what it takes to play in the Premier league and on his day he can turn around any defence. With at-least a solid 18 months left in him, David Villa could be a decent signing for the Gunners if Barcelona are ready to sell him for around £10 million.
Others:
If Arsenal are ready to invest in their targets which would benefit the club in the longer term, it should probably be on Milan’s El Shaarawy and Vitesse’s Wilfried Bony. Two potential superstars in the making.
