Arsenal opinion: Arsenal should sign Yacine Brahimi
According to reports in the Evening Standard, Arsenal are looking to add FC Porto’s Yacine Brahimi into the squad this summer.
The 29-year old is an Algerian international plays for FC Porto. Brahimi is a flexible resource and can play both flanks or as an attacking midfielder.
Brahimi is a technically gifted player and has been one of Porto’s stand out players over the last few years. He joined the Portuguese outfit in the 2014/15 season and has been going from strength to strength ever since. He is most well known for his street-like dribbling skills
He is extremely unpredictable and capable of producing moments of pure magic. He was also awarded the African footballer of the year in 2014 by the BBC. In his 139 appearances for Porto, he has scored 36 goals, which suggest that he’s not just a show pony and can be effective when required.
Arsenal need to get this deal over the line to make good on the fine margins that they just missed out on this season.
Arsenal will feel hard done by after having a lot of promising signs last season. They had gone on an unbeaten run, had a great form at home, made it to the Europa League final and even looked prime for 3rd place finish after their home win in the league over Manchester United.
Yet, it all came crashing down after a bit of a collapse during the final few league games and a humbling defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the Europa League final. This also meant that they lost out on some valuable prize money and a Champions League spot.
Brahimi will be as inexpensive as they come, as a free agent. Arsenal might find some solace in losing Ramsay on a free by getting this deal over the line and could add some balance to their attack by adding a winger. Alex Iwobi is the only realized winger in the team; with Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang and Ozil often being pigeon-holed into that position.

Unai Emery will want to make good on last season’s performances. It was never going to be easy to follow Arsene Wenger but there is a clear shift in the way Arsenal are going about things now. In time, it should bear fruit.
Yacine Brahimi, all things considered, would be a very smart signing from the Gunners.
