Arsenal would arguably bag the biggest bargain of the summer by shelling out £30m to sign this French World Cup winner

Arsenal Opinion: Nabil Fekir at £30 million could be one of the biggest bargains for Arsenal

According to The Mirror, Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir for a fee of £30 million in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who was a part of the French team that lifted the FIFA World Cup in Russia last summer, was ever so close to completing a move to Liverpool last season, only for the move to collapse at the eleventh hour due to medical issues. (h/t Mirror)

However, Fekir might as well earn a coveted move to the Premier League this time around, with Arsenal keen to secure his services, although any deal would depend on the Gunners’ ability to offload Mesut Ozil. (h/t Mirror)

The North Londoners are keen to get the 30-year-old German off their books but Ozil’s extortionate wages are discouraging the potential suitors from making an approach, with a loan deal looking more likely to materialize.

The Gunners have already set the ball rolling this summer with the signing of Gabriel Martinelli but it is understood that Unai Emery is keen to add a few more fresh faces in a bid to bolster his squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Ozil is not the only player that Arsenal are looking to sell this summer, though, with the Mirror suggesting that the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Shkodran Mustafi are also likely to be up for grabs.

Arsenal do not have a lot of cash to throw around in the transfer window this time around after the club failed to secure Champions League football for the third successive season.

The Mirror claims that Unai Emery only has £40 million at his disposal this summer and it remains to be seen what kind of approach the Spaniard adopts in the transfer market, with defensive reinforcements being a top priority following the club’s struggles at the back last season.

However, as it seems, Arsenal are not only limiting their stance towards the recruitment of new defenders this summer.

The likes of Ozil and Mkhitaryan just didn’t do enough the last term, as the duo struggled to cope with Emery’s pressing philosophy, and with Ramsey now gone, the Gunners are under pressure to bring in another top-quality attacking midfielder to complement the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette up front.

To put things into perspective, Arsenal’s links with Nabil Fekir is bound to raise the levels of excitement, as well as expectation at the Emirates, given that the Gunners are in desperate need of a marquee signing to help them secure a much-awaited return to the Champions Leauge next season.

It is a no-brainer that the North Londoners need to freshen up their options at the back but, in all honesty, they would make themselves look foolish if they allow the chance to sign Fekir for £30 million simply pass by without making the most of it.

The 25-year-old is probably worth a fortune in the current market scenario and the chance to complete a cut-price deal for him this summer should appeal to the Gunners, particularly with the club being forced to work with a tight budget.

Truth be told, Arsenal are unlikely to find a better player for such a small amount and it doesn’t require a rocket scientist to figure out that they would land themselves one of the biggest bargains in the Premier League in recent times by striking a £30 million deal for the Frenchman.

Fekir is regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe at the moment, with his ability to score as well as create goals for his teammates making him an exciting and impactful all-around presence in the final third.

The versatile left-footed creative ace is at his best when assigned a free role behind the striker, whilst he is also very much capable of playing out wide on either flank and leading the line as a centre-forward.

With the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette going great guns, it is not difficult to see why the arrival of someone like Fekir could potentially transform Arsenal into one of the most deadly attacking units in the Premier League.

It is high time for the Gunners to move away from the mediocrity of Ozil and, that said, they just cannot afford to miss out on this golden opportunity, as such chances come by few and far between.
