Arsenal Vs Swansea Player Ratings + Highlights

Arsenal secured a much deserving 4th round match against Brighton in the FA cup after overcoming Swansea in the replay of the original fixture held at Wales. Arsenal were on top throughout the game and showed more intentions to make it to the next round that Swansea and eventually Jack Wilshere netted in the all important goal of the game in the dying stages allowing Arsenal to continue their tradition of making it to the fourth round of FA cup from 1996.

The Ratings:

Wojciech Szczesny  Was completely untroubled by Swansea for most part of the game. However showed composure when needed 7/10

Bacary Sagna Taking account from his recent performances, last night was a much improved one. Provided some good crosses and looked threatening going forward 7/10

Per Mertesacker Looked solid defensively. NO one really troubled the German really 7/10

Thomas Vermaelen A captain’s performance to say the least. Made some fine last ditch tackles to block the rare attacks from Swansea. Although he looked out of sorts while defending corners, a part of the game where he should definitely work on 6.5/10

Kieran Gibbs Is he turning into the the next best thing for the Gunners ? The England International seems to increase his standards game after game. Though he had very little to do defensively, he always had the control when the Swans had the ball. Going forward in attack looks like a piece of came for the left back 8/10

Abou Diaby Another 81 minutes in the bag for Diaby as he gets back in the groove of things. Had a normal game, though he din’t help much in creating chances the French Internatinal looked strong in his defensive duties allowing Cazorla and Wilshere to serge forward with ease 7/10

Francis Coquelin It is hard to think why Arsene Wenger is not giving Coquelin more first team chances. The lad seemed to be doing well whenever he is given a chance. Although it was not a performance as flashy as Wilshere’s but had a solid game 7/10

Theo Walcott  He was dismal with his finishing. With the number of chances Walcott was presented, he should have at-least scored one. Totally an off day in-front of goal but overall his team play combining in attack with others was very good 6.5/10

Jack Wilshere Seems like he is doing everything in Arsenal except for goalkeeping nowadays. Has got the true Arsenal blood in him and every time he has the ball, Wilshere tries to do one additional thing that other players around him don’t. He was in the thick of things for Arsenal throughout the match and scored the much deserved goal. Man of the match miles ahead of the others 9/10

Santi Cazorla Not the best of games for the Spaniard but still made a massive impact in the Arsenal attack 6.5/10

Olivier Giroud It is absolutely up-to everyone’s personal choice to judge Olivier’s performance. Though he got the assist for the goal, looking closely one might feel he wasted a lot of time when he had the ball in good areas 6.5/10

Watch Wilshere’s goal if you had missed the game.
