Arsenal Vs Reading Player Ratings + Highlights

Share

So it was a good win for the Gunners and the only blemish was conceding the goal and not scoring more of their chances, something that has been costing Arsenal against better opposition. Reading carried little to no threat throughout the game as Arsenal dominated long spells of possession outplaying the visitors and at times looked utterly brilliant with the good old Arsenal swift and fluent passing moves.

Player ratings:

Lukasz Fabianski 6.5/10

Barely tested, and could continue to keep his place for the remaining of the games this season. Couldn’t do much about the goal, but a couple of confident catches proved he is on the right track.

Bacary Sagna – 6.5/10

Started the match fresh after his injury and put in a decent looking performance. The French man was hardly troubled by Reading in the defensive third while he put in some decent cross inside the D-box.

Per Mertesacker – 7/10

A spirited performance by the German, managed to see off Pavel Pogrebnyak’s attacking threat with ease.

Laurent Koscielny – 7/10

The defensive partners did not have much to do and Koscielny was brilliant to put a strong tackle when Robson-Kanu was clear on goal down the right wing. He has been more composed and matured than his captain Vermaelen this season and surely deserves a nod ahead of the Belgian.

Nacho Monreal – 6/10

Not the best of games for the Spaniard. He was the culprit to leave the goal scored by Robson-Kanu as he failed to mark him on the far side. He failed to help enough in the attacking front as well.

Mikel Arteta – 7/10

A rather easy game for Arteta as he was rarely put under pressure, and managed to showcase his passing side of the game. Scored the 4th goal from the spot to round off an excellent evening for the Gunners.

Aaron Ramsey – 7/10

Is this a new found Ramsey we have been seeing these days? The Welsh has been continuing to impress this season. His work rate off the ball has been of so much help for Arsenal and he is improving each game.

Tomas Rosicky – 6/10

A rare start for the Czech, but did not waste his chance. Although he was ineffective in the final third, he looked lively in the build-up play.Could have scored a goal late on but decide to pass the ball instead which ended up in the defenders legs.

Santi Cazorla – 8/10

A flamboyant display from the little Spaniard to the say the least. Scored a beautiful goal early in the second half and was practically involved in almost each of Gunner’s attack.

Gervinho –8/10

So tough to rate him, hot and cold. But you can’t deny his involvement in the goals, wastefulness stop’s him getting higher. It was a far from perfect performance from the Ivorian, but it is surely a good sign for both the player and the team. Gervinho has to continue with performances like last night to win over Arsenal fans again.

Olivier Giroud – 7/10

Scored a brilliant goal from the left and looked more lively throughout the game. An improved performance from the French man.

Subs

Kieran Gibbs (for Monreal, 71)

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Gervinho, 75) – 6 – What an impact Chamberlain had on the game. Came on and immediately injected pace into Arsenal’s game and a tired Reading leg came in his way inside the penalty box and Arsenal were awarded a penalty which was netted by Arteta.

Lukas Podolski (for Giroud, 75)
