A Dream Team: Arsenal Vs Liverpool Combined XI

The Premier League is back this weekend and it has brought with it, yet another round of exhilarating fixtures with all 20 teams fighting for three points in 10 different games. And the game that might steal the show this weekend is Arsenal’s trip to Anfield. The Reds are healing from a loss to Leicester City but they have been dangerous against top-6 sides and will surely give Arsenal a hard time in this game.

Wenger’s side have now picked just 3 points from the last three games. They are in danger of slipping out of the top 4 with a loss in this game. Playing away from home, they will have to be at their best to get even a point from this game.

Both teams have some star players in their lineups but who will make the combined XI for the two English giants?

Combined Arsenal and Liverpool XI:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech (Arsenal)

Petr Cech is among the best in the league and finds a place in this side without any competition from the Reds keepers.

Right-Back: Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)

Though Nathaniel Clyne has been excellent, Bellerin has been more productive overall and just scrapes past Clyne over for a place in this team.

Centre-Half: Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)

Koscielny is the backbone of the Arsenal defense and has been superb all season for the Gunners and he is an automatic choice in this side.

Centre-Half: Joel Matip (Liverpool)

The most consistent Liverpool defender, Matip has been solid at the back for the Reds and partners Koscielny in this combined XI.

Left-Back: James Milner (Liverpool)

With Monreal and Gibbs unable to find consistency, the veteran makeshift left-back for Liverpool finds a place in this team.

Central Midfield: Francis Coquelin (Arsenal)

Arsenal’s best midfielder and easily their most consistent, Coquelin is the first choice for Wenger this season and keeps his place in this XI as well.

Central Midfield: Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)

Arguably the best midfielder among both teams. Henderson has been superb this season in front of the back-4 and gets his place in this team.

Left Wing: Adam Lallana (Liverpool)

The English midfielder has been in the form of his life this season and though unproductive recently, finds a place in this side.

Right Wing: Sadio Mane (Liverpool)

The Senegalese winger has been the most effective player for Liverpool this season and he edges Theo Walcott into this XI.

Attacking Midfield: Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)

The German playmaker has been having a horrid time recently but he has been superb since the start of the season and deserves a place in this side.

Striker: Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

The Chilean, who has acted as false-9 for Arsenal for most of the season has been more effective than Firmino in a similar role for Liverpool and hence glides his way into the combined XI.
