Arsenal vs Blackburn – Player Ratings, Wenger Reactions + Match Highlights

Arsenal are in a jaws of yet an another trophy less season as they got defeated by the championship side Blackburn in FA cup fifth round. Check out the player ratings for arsenal players, Wenger post-match reactions and also the highlights of the game.

Player Ratings

Wojciech Szczesny: 5/10
Was a mere spectator for most of the game. He was  bit culpable for Blackburn’s goal.

Laurent Koscielny: 5/10
Again nothing much to do for the French defender. But he reacted slow when they conceded that goal.

Monreal: 6/10
Decent game again both in attack and defense.

Thomas Vermaelen: 6/10
Coming back from injury, Arsenal captain leader-ed his defense well and even provided some attacking threat during set pieces.

Francis Coquelin: 5.5/10
Mixed game for the youngster. Had some good moments and also lost possession many times.

Mikel Arteta: 5.5/10
After going behind, he played more as attacking mid and could have saved his side at the end but he blasted his shot wide.

A. Diaby: 4/10
Poor game. Slows the tempo of the game so much. He should have been substituted instead of Rosicky.

Tomas Rosicky: 6/10
Had a great game with some neat dribbles and touches. Hit the post once to0. Weirdly substituted.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 5/10
Good dribbles but no end product. He needs to pull up his socks if he wants to be a regular starter.

Olivier Giroud: 5/10
He got into good positions but received zero support from his team mates.

Gervinho: 3/10
Too sloppy to be an Arsenal player. Most frustrating player to watch on the pitch.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Santi Cazorla: 6/10
Tried his best but still could not change the outcome of the game.

Jack Wilshere: 6/10
Showed what Arsenal missed in first half. Constantly drived his team forward especially in the left side.

Theo Walcott: 5/10
Nothing much to do but should have scored with a free header during the closing stages of the game.

Wenger Reactions

Wenger took the defeat on his chin but still believes that his side will turn it around.

He said,

“It is very painful to lose a game like that. What is important is to focus on the next one.

“The season is not over. For you maybe, not for me.”

“If we feel sorry for ourselves we would be completely wrong. We have a massive game on Tuesday night and we have to show that we have some response in the team.”
