Arsenal opinion: Emery should use Jenkinson to land Kieran Tierney
According to Birmingham Mail, Celtic are interested in making a move for Arsenal star Carl Jenkinson. Reports further add that with Arsenal also keen on a move for Kieran Tierney, Jenkinson could be used as a makeweight in any deal for the Scottish left-back.
This is a move that Arsenal have to complete before someone else makes a move for Tierney. Carl Jenkinson is the last remaining piece of Arsene Wenger’s infamous English core, with Aaron Ramsey having departed for Juventus.
Before that, it was Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, all leaving for brighter futures. However, for the boyhood Arsenal fan, staying at the Emirates has made a lot of sense.
But now times have changed and with Unai Emery looking to take Arsenal forward, he is making cuts.
Tierney’s skill-set is exactly what Arsenal need at the moment and that combined with his age makes him a must-have. Despite being only 22 years old, Tierney has shown composure and talent well beyond his age and like fellow Scottish star Andrew Robertson, the Celtic star is a two-way man.
Much like Nacho Monreal, Tierney plays both the offensive and the defensive part of the game very well. That combined with his athleticism and aggression shown for the game does mean that he would slot straight into Unai Emery’s team.
While this would prove to be a problem for Sead Kolasinac, the 21-year-old could and will provide competition in a position that Arsenal desperately need reinforcements. Because Nacho Monreal is already 33 years old and that leaves Arsenal with just Kolasinac.
For a club chasing a top-four spot, that cannot happen and before they make additions to their midfield, that needs to change.

Arsenal have to make sure that they have depth in their squad, as they cannot allow injuries to hurt their chances at the top-four.
Hence, adding someone just like Kieran Tierney will help change the course of their present and the future. It will also allow Monreal to either stay at the club or move on, with his contract expiring.
