Arsenal Transfers – Why Wenger Should Not Waste His Time, Chasing This Magic Dribbler From Madrid

With another defeat to darken to the weakest ever Manchester United side that many can imagine, the mood around the North London club is understandably somber. Two back to back defeats in the Premier League and with Borussia Dortmund up next in the Champions League, who for all their bad form in the Bundesliga has been splendid in the Champions League, things look set to be a lot worse for Arsenal before they get any better. In such a scenario, there is some suggestion of Isco joining Arsenal. Here at Soccersouls, we take a look as to why Arsenal do not need the young Spanish midfielder.

Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez

Too much of the same at Arsenal: There can be no doubting the incredible talent that Isco is. However we must remember that if there can be one club where a move for the young Spaniard is bad, then it has to be Arsenal. Already too many players of his mould exist at Arsenal, where they play a particularly pretty brand of football. Some have even criticised this saying that Wenger has made it a habit of collecting such ball players but without the necessary steel in midfield. While some may take issue with the tone of such criticisms but not even the most ardent of Arsenal fans will argue that it is not true to a certain extent. For example what will Isco do at Arsenal when Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla literally do the same thing. So for all of Isco’s talent he would be better off staying at Real Madrid because if he has to warm the bench, might as well be for the best team in the world currently and not the team which is fighting tooth and nail to get into the Champions League every season.

He is not the defensive midfielder that Arsenal needs: Alright this might be a tad obvious but that does not make it untrue.  Arsenal need a DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER who can do the defensive duties likes cover for Per Mertesacker who looks like he is still dreaming about the World Cup triumph in Brazil. What Arsenal do not need, and this is a reiteration of the first point, is another ball player who is clever on the ball and can do a bunch of things which will make the fans go gaga. Arsene Wenger has to understand that he cannot, he just cannot, foresake the balance of the side forever. As good a player Isco is, he is just not right for Arsenal at the moment.
