Arsenal Transfers – The Perfect Midfield Partner To Pair With Mikel Arteta

Hernanes
Hernanes

The Brazilian Hernanes had an impressive spell during the previous season, where he hit the back of the net 11 times while creating four more chances in 30 Serie A appearances for Lazio. This season, Hernanes has scored two goals from nine league appearances. (Stats from squawka)

According to Football – Italia, who have quoted Corriere Dello Sport, Italy’s major tabloid Lazio’s Sporting Director Igli Tare maintained that Hernanes will continue to be a Lazio player for the time being,

“Despite his inconsistency, Hernanes remains a fundamental player for us. You just have to think back to the goals he has scored. Every time that I have spoken to him or his agent, I have been given the impression that he sees this as his home.

He knows what Lazio can give him, what he can have in Rome. It is vital for us that we can guarantee him an important team. You never know what will happen in life and one day he could move somewhere else, but that day is still a long way off.”

If at all the Brazilian midfielder refuses to sign a new contract, he will eventually leave for nothing next summer as a free agent, which is perhaps the worst as it can get for Lazio.

So how does the Brazilian stand out from other players when it comes to personal abilities? Well with the ball, he can manoeuvre that extra bit of space for his strikers up front, he has the dynamic vision like fellow countryman Kaka, has a very powerful shot from long ranges and has exquisite control. But what stands out is his ability to wriggle free out of closely marked spaces very easily and feeding the overlapping wingbacks.

Even though he sometimes goes very rash into challenges accumulating red cards in the offering, but perhaps he is the kind of player Arsenal need more than Tottenham at this moment. With Mathieu Flamini playing alongside Mikel Arteta in the base of the 4-2-3-1 someone like Hernanes aside Arteta would fit in much better giving both the license to cover each other up during advanced positions. Moreover it will allow the triumvirate of Ozil, Cazorla and Wislhere to link up with Giroud far too easily given that they know they have someone who can cover more often than not.

With Arsene Wenger looking to reinstate his squad in the best possible manner to push for his side’s title aspirations, Hernanes remains the perfect fit for the Gunners in terms of squad depth and improving their first eleven. Whether or not Hernanes leaves Lazio this January is a question we are yet to get answers on, but it will be worth the wait!
