Arsenal Transfers – American Journalist Claims That Suarez Will Remain At Anfield

Latest on Suarez:

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has stated that buying Luis Suarez from Liverpool is going to make a statement, a statement that fans do not associate Arsenal with. This would clearly signify Arsenal’s intent of making the squad stronger.

“If they [Arsenal] got Suarez it would be a massive statement, it really would.  I’ve always thought they create a lot of chances. I know Suarez does miss some but he scores a lot of goals as well. If they could get Suarez in then maybe other players who have been linked with Arsenal will be like: ‘Look, they really mean business next season and I want to be at that club as well’.”, he told in an interview to Goal.com.

After missing out on Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has wanted Luis Suarez in his team and has made two bids catering to that wish. But Liverpool have remained adamant in the wish about not selling Suarez and have rejected the bids. With a little over two weeks remaining in the transfer window, it would be interesting to see how things turn up and where Suarez ultimately ends up playing.

While that is on one side, Mirror reports that Luis Suarez is set to remain at Anfield and may even a sign new contract. The saga to take a complete U-turn? well we are not sure of it. The alleged story has come up Via a tweet, by a high profile Latin American journalist who has claimed that the striker told him personally that he will not be leaving Anfield.

The Tweet translates as

“Luis Suarez confirms to me he will not leave Liverpool. The support of the fans has influenced his decision.”

“Suarez see it as likely that he’ll sign a renewal (extension) to the contract that binds him to Liverpool.”

Jack Wilshere
In other news, Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere has stated that he wants to play for his national side on a regular basis prior to England’s match against Scotland on Wednesday. Till now he has been in and out of the team with injury problems that has marred his short career to a great extent.

Wilshere has so far missed all of England’s World Cup qualifier matches and he is aware that it may take a toll on his chances of making it to the England squad next summer.

“I haven’t contributed anything to this qualifying campaign and I’m anxious to do so,” he stated. “We have four big ones coming up and I want to be involved in them. You never know what’s round the corner. Anything can happen in any game so I can’t say ‘yeah I’m going to be here next month’ or I might not be picked.”

“I’ve only had seven hours playing for England and it has been in little dribs and drabs. I’ve never really had a run for England or a partnership with anyone, so hopefully now I can do that,” he stressed.

And to add feather to the cap, Steven Gerrard has claimed that Wilshere is ready to take over the England side as Captain after his retirement. Although the duo have not spent much time on the pitch together, Wilshere’s influential game against Brazil in February and a few other matches have really impressed the current English captain who went on to say:

“His [Wilshere’s] quality, his example in training every day, he seems a level-headed kid, he wants to learn, he loves England, he’s going to be around the top for a long, long time,” Gerrard said. “He ticks a lot of boxes when it comes down to other players following his lead. Obviously, I’m really paranoid about putting too much pressure on any player, especially Jack, but he certainly has the quality to do that.
