Arsenal Transfers: 3 Best Ever Imports By Wenger From Ligue 1

Arsenal Transfer Opinion

Top 3 Arsenal Signings From Ligue 1

It isn’t a norm for a Premier League club to have the feeling of it belonging in another country. Arsenal though have a massive French appeal, more so because of the ‘professor’ in charge, Arsene Wenger. The Gunners manager has seen a lot of game time with Arsenal and has seen many top talents come and go in the colours of Arsenal.

Wenger is known for his ability to spot a talent and then nurture them to become better. We all remember how he saved Henry from the nightmare that was Juventus and how he brought out the player in Cesc Fabregas. We look back at some of the top talents that have graced the London team right after being signed by Wenger from Ligue 1. This list only consists of some players from the recent era and not take a look right through the history of Ligue 1 players at Arsenal.

3. Alexandre Song

This might be a tough one to crack, Song didn’t leave the club in the best on circumstances with a move to Barcelona, but he was a good player for Arsenal during his time there. The Cameroonian was one of the best defensive midfielders when he was on ‘song’, sorry for the pun. Signed from Bastia in 2006 after a loan spell in London, Song slowly but surely asserted his place in the midfield and his great performances caught the eye of many suitors, one of them was Barcelona, unfortunately that did not go as planned and Song recently played a season on loan at West Ham United.
