Arsenal Transfer Opinion: Should Wenger Spend Big Money To Lure This Prolific Winger To Emirates?

Arsenal Transfer Opinion

Arsenal seem to be plotting some big moves in the summer transfer windows. In successive seasons they have purchased two top-notch players, paying some massive transfer fees, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are the two players who have joined the Gunners from Spanish clubs and they seem to be ready to be joined by another big name player.

Based on reports, Arsene Wenger is seemingly putting together a package to bring in Borussia Dortmund attacker, Marco Reus. Although Reus did recently sign a contract with Dortmund to keep him in the club for a longer time, there is nothing concrete in football and while he might not want to move away from his hometown club, the right amount could always pave the deal for the German to join the London club. This is a perfect way to get the ball rolling for Arsenal and we look at why this deal is right for the Gunners.

A world class talent

Let us be honest, which club would not want a player of the calibre of Marco Reus in their team? Reus is not only one of the best forwards in the Bundesliga but is one of the best in the World and at only 25 years of age, he still has a few years of great football left in him and can grow more as a player.

He can not only play as a striker but anywhere in the front positions, either as a winger or an attacking midfielder, Reus is equally adept at playing in any of the positions and that is just one of his qualities that makes him such a talent that everyone wants. It is surely not going to be easy to pry him away from the hands of Klopp but let us not dwell on that bit for now.

He has a goal scoring ratio of almost one every two games with 53 goals in just 111 appearances for Dortmund in the three years he has been at the club and seems to be getting better as the seasons go by. This season has been a little tough for him since he has not been able to recover from the injury he got just before the world cup but that should not be a deterrent to Arsenal if they are signing him.

A team of brilliant attackers

If Arsenal do pull this off, they would have one of the best attacks in the World, not only would they have a striker who can score goals in Olivier Giroud, they would have players who can interchange positions and create chances in Ozil, Sanchez and Reus and with a midfield which could feature players like Wilshere and Ramsey, not to forget the ever impressive Coquelin. Arsenal could well be set for more than just a 4th place finish next season.
