According to reports from Spain, Arsenal are the favorites to land Athletic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta in summer.
The 27-year-old center-back failed to extend his contract with his current team and set to leave in the summer as a free agent.
Although Arsene Wenger had already signed a defender (Malaga left-back Nacho Monreal), he is further looking to add much needed depth to his unimpressive defense.
Amorebieta has eight international caps for Venezuela and also has made over 250 appearances for Bilbao in last six years. He is regarded as one of the most assured defenders in Spain.
Despite being one of the consistent performers for Bilbao over the years, Amorebieta is also known for his reckless attitude in the pitch. Last season alone, the Amorebieta received 16 yellow and three red cards in 50 appearances.
Everton, Liverpool, Barcelona and AC Milan are also closely watching the Venezuelan.
