Atletico Madrid wonder kid Jose Maria Gimenez has attracted interest from Manchester United, however, the player is reportedly interested in a move to Arsenal.
If reports are to be believed then Arsenal are in advantage here as the Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger is looking for a player to add to their defence.
Arsenal made a solid start to their season so far, with many pundits declaring the Gunners as their favorites for the title contenders. However, this time around Wenger’s squad is set to face competition from Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea. The same has consequently resulted into Wenger looking out to bring in additional players to the squad.
Gimenez has made only two appearances all season and he has just over 18 months to run on his contract. This has started a frenzy of clubs looking to sign him, which includes Manchester United and Arsenal, the club Gimenez is keen to sign up for.
“You don’t have to tell him a lot,” said his mentor Diego Godin, under whom the player developed at Atletico Madrid.
“For his age, he has a lot of experience with Uruguay and Atletico Madrid in big games. The truth is he has always demonstrated a lot of personality and composure.”
