Arsenal Team News To Face Newcastle: Gibbs & Diaby Miss Out, Vermaelen Returns

Wenger to PSG?

Arsene Wenger gave his usual pre-match press conference ahead of the Newcastle game on Monday where he revealed the latest team news and gave his insights on the sacking of David Moyes.

Arsenal host Newcastle United on Monday in search of three crucial points to keep their hopes alive for the Champions League football next year. The Gunners saw the duo of Ozil and Ramsey playing together for the first time since boxing day and Wenger has revealed that there are no further setbacks to the starting XI which played against Hull City.

However, the likes of Gibbs and Abou Diaby are likely to remain sidelined for this one.

“Everybody involved at Hull should be available and Vermaelen could be return to the squad. Gibbs remains sidelined for the game with a problem in his ankle.”

Wenger on Diaby: “He had a little groin problem after [under-21] game so will not be available on Monday”

Wenger on Jack Wilshere: “Jack is progressing well”

Talking about Manchester United’s decision to sack David Moyes following their shock defeat against Everton last week, Wenger claimed that there is no time for managers to do their job these days.

“I’m sad that he [Moyes] wasn’t given time and I wish him well,” said Wenger. “I think it’s just part of what the modern game is now. There is no time available for people to do their job and that is a big threat for our game.”

“What I mean by that is that if you want quality people in any job, you need to give them time to develop and to become good, or people with the quality will not come into our job anymore.”
