Arsenal Team News For Swansea Clash: Arteta, Giroud, Wilshere & More

Share

We have earlier revealed the big news about Arsenal’s injured striker Olivier Giroud returning to training in a week’s time. Here are the rest of the updates as Arsenal get ready to travel to Wales to face Swansea this Sunday.

Arsene Wenger revealed the latest on the injury front. Apart from Giroud, the good news is about Mikel Arteta, who was subbed in the second half against Anderlecht on Tuesday due to a hamstring injury. After initial fears that the midfielder will me missed for a long term, Wenger has confirmed that he will return after the International break and will only miss the trip to Liberty Stadium this weekend.

“Arteta will be out for Sunday. He has a mild hamstring strain and he will be out for a short period because it’s a grade one. He should be back after the internationals.”

“Giroud joins in training next week.”, concluded Wenger.

Meanwhile long term absentees Mesut Ozil, David Ospina and French International Laurent Koscielny are progressing well and should be back in contention soon with Koscinely having the outside chance of making it to the first team after the International break.

“Debuchy, Ospina and Ozil are progressing very well, but of course they are not available before or straight after the international break.”

“Koscielny has a little chance to be back after the international break.”

In the absence of club captain Mikel Arteta, Flamini and Ramsey should take over the job at the middle of the park while Jack Wilshere will be available for selection after missing the last two games through injury, illness and suspension.
