Sanchez Should Not Join Chelsea For All The Good Reasons

It is the start of April but it seems like Chelsea’s Antonio Conte has already started planning for the next season. According to reports, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is on Chelsea’s wish-list and Conte is reportedly ready to do whatever it takes to land the Chilean this summer. The former Barcelona man is currently unsettled at the Emirates, thanks to the lack of progress under Arsene Wenger, and is yet to sign an extension on his deal that expires at the end of the season. So Arsenal will have to sell him this summer or risk losing him for free. Chelsea are ready to take advantage of this situation. But here is why the 28-year old should snub the offer from Stamford Bridge at all costs.

It is quite evident that Sanchez wants to win trophies on a regular basis and there are no doubts about Conte’s ability to deliver at Stamford Bridge. But the issue would be if Sanchez will be as big a part of the Chelsea squad. With 22 goals and 18 assists in all competitions this season, Sanchez is one of the most productive players in his position in Europe and is by far the most important player for the Gunners.

Playing as a false-9, Sanchez has seen Wenger mend the team and their play according to his style of play and this has worked wonders for the Chilean who is enjoying an outstanding season. But the Gunners are 6th in the points table and have to play out of their skins to qualify for the Champions League so Sanchez might end up quitting the club at the end of the season, in search of Champions League football next season, if the Gunners fail to qualify for the same. Though Chelsea can offer that, Sanchez will have to work his way into the first team and play in a slightly different role, which might affect his productivity.

Though the likes of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa have been linked with an exit in the summer recently, Conte is not expected to let either of them quit the club this summer and Sanchez will only add to this high-profile attack. With a return like that of his, Sanchez will surely be the first choice for Conte which might see the likes of Willian and Pedro drop to the bench. This is some insane depth in the squad for Chelsea but leaves Sanchez with little margin for error.

With two wingers who are equally capable, breathing down his neck, Sanchez will have to work harder to impress the manager every week, and though that might help him improve as a player, it will demand more of him. The Chilean has done superbly well in teams where he has been the focal point and at Chelsea, he will just be one of the big names and a couple of bad games is sure to push him to the bench. Sanchez is better of playing for a club who are ready to play around a player who is in the prime of his career.

Do you think Sanchez should move to the Stamford Bridge this summer?
