Arsenal Striker Finally Obtains Work Permit

The Costa Rican, Joel Campbell, has finally got his long awaited work permit which will see him don the Arsenal jersey (probably) for the reserves team and may be a shot at a possible league cup appearance, given that he opts to stay at Arsenal.

Joel Campbell, on Monday received a work permit in England and could be taken into account to play for Arsenal in the Premier League. The news was confirmed by the striker on his Facebook and twitter profiles,

” Happy to have received my work permit in England. Still waiting for the best for the future “

Campbell signed a contract still in force, with Arsenal in 2011, but at that time did not have a work permit in the country. Before it was borrowed by the English club to Lorient in France, with whom he played 33 matches and scored 6 goals in the 2011-2012 season.

Then, he was loaned to La Liga’s Real Betis, where he managed 2 goals from the 28 appearances that he made during the 2012-13 season.

It is still unknown whether Arsene Wenger will prefer to keep Joel Campbell at the Emirates having already secured the signing of French U-21 International Yaya Sanogo who will join with the rest of the squad once they return from their pre-season Asia tour.

Having achieved FIFA’s requirements to play in England, a loan move to a fellow Premier league club is very much a possibility and with Crystal Palace reportedly showing interest in the youngster, it would be a wise decision for both the parties to spend another season on loan before fighting for the Gunner’s first team berth.
