“It was a really outstanding performance and a very good team performance as well” said England manager Roy Hodgson following Arsenal’s 4-1 demolition of Galatasaray on Wednesday night.

The England manger who revealed the latest team news prior to the Three Lion’s Euro 2016 qualification campaign next week, admits that he had a smile on his face watching Welbeck’s hat-trick. The Former Manchester United had an unforgettable night against the Turks as almost everything that he touched went in. It was the striker’s first career hat-trick.

“It was a really outstanding performance and a very good team performance as well,” Hodgson said at the announcement of his latest England squad.

“But the way he took his goals was really good and it is obviously good for Danny’s confidence after his two goals for England to get a hat-trick in a Champions League game.

“It is something that is important and something I am sure will be a high point in his career when he looks back on it, so we’re happy he is in form and happy, hopefully, that he will be able to help us like he did in Switzerland.”

England resume their Euro campaign on October 9th when they host San Marino at Wembley and then travel to face Estonia. In the absence of Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, Welbeck will be England’s first choice striker and will lead the team alongside his former team mate Wayne Rooney.
