Arsenal Star Says Side’s Resilience and Character Key for Recent Wins

England international Calum Chambers has now praised the resilience and character shown by Arsenal, as they beat Tottenham Hotspur in Wednesday’s 2-1 Capital One Cup win at White Hart Lane. Manager Arsène Wenger had started with the 20 year old defender, as one of the 10 changes that he made to the team that lost to Chelsea last Saturday.

However, when the French boss had made six changes at Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League last Wednesday, the Gunners had lost. This time around, the former Southampton man was rather solid, which was his third appearance of the season, though he put one back into his own net in the 56th-minute of the game, with which Spurs equalized.

At that point, it looked as the home side would possibly dominate the game and secure the win, however that did not happen. Mathieu Flamini scored a stunning volleyed goal to give his side the win and talking about the game, the Englishman stated, “We were resilient. At times, we got a lot of pressure but we were compact and together as a team. We knew our jobs. We defended well at those points. The second half said a lot about the character and belief of the lads.”

“At 1-1, we showed a lot of character to keep our faith, keep our composure, keep playing and get a goal to get the win. You want to get the results, to build up momentum. Hopefully, we can take this into the next game.”

“It would be nice to get a few games under my belt. But I have been training hard and any opportunity I am given, I can give my best performance, to show why I feel I want to be playing. When I get the opportunity, I will give it my best shot.”
