Arsenal opinion: Why Arsenal should make a move for Joan Jordan

Spanish football outlet Football Espana has reported that Arsenal have scouted and are interested in making a move for La Liga star Joan Jordan. The 24-year-old midfielder has done well for La Liga side Eibar this season, playing in 86% of their games this season.

Jordan has produced 7 goals in 27 appearances for the club, showing his worth on more than one occasion. Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking for reinforcements in the summer and has already been linked with moves for Joe Aribo (Metro), Samuel Umtiti (Metro) and a few others.

However, with the club losing Aaron Ramsey, the Gunners are looking for a replacement for the Welshman. With his contract expiring at the end of the current season, the 28-year-old has signed for Juventus and that represents a massive blow for the Gunners.

This season, Ramsey has been his incredible box-to-box self and that energy needs to be replaced. But for a club like Arsenal with the budget that they have (Mirror), replacing him will prove to be a tough task. However, that’s where Joan Jordan can step in.

For a club on a budget and looking for a physically solid and technically adept midfielder, few players would be as affordable as Jordan. The 24-year-old is a versatile star and that’s what makes him perfect for Arsenal and more importantly, for Unai Emery.

He is predominantly a box-to-box midfielder but his minutes this season have been spread across a wide variety of roles. From a deeper defensive role to a more attacking number 10 role, Jordan has done them all and done it very successfully.

This season, the 24-year-old has completed over 40 tackles and created just over 50 chances. The latter statistic is the fifth highest in the La Liga this season, which makes him someone worth the effort.

Furthermore, he is only one of the four players to create those many chances and complete as many tackles as he has.

For a player who was brought in for only €1million in the summer of 2017, those figures show that he has proven to be a bargain for the club. It’s why Arsenal should make a move and with a €15million release clause to his name (Football Espana), Joan Jordan would be an absolute steal.

Conclusion

Replacing Aaron Ramsey will by far be the hardest thing that the club would have to do next summer. But adding a player as talented and defensively sound like Joan Jordan makes it a no-brainer of a move for the club.
