Arsenal opinion: Should the Gunners make a move for Leandro Trossard?

In the end, Arsenal might look back with regret on the string of losses they endured towards what was supposed to be a rather easy walk into a Champions League spot.

The Gunners had arguably the best road into the top four, as they did not have face a single top-six side in their final five games.

But in typical Arsenal fashion, they collapsed and that has left their hopes hanging on a thread. Their collapse has shown exactly where the club has lacked players and while the Gunners do need defensive reinforcements, they also need offensive players.

That’s exactly why the club has been linked with a move for Leandro Trossard, with his agent revealing that a move is possible (Express). If ever Arsenal needed a sign to make a move for a player, this is it.

The club has been told that one of their top targets is more than open to a move to the club and it’s high time the Emirates Stadium side make a move.

As mentioned above, they’ve been heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old, with the Express reporting earlier that he’s their second choice. However, given his performances this season, Trossard deserves to become their top choice with the winger doing even better than Ryan Fraser.

So far, the Belgian winger has been impeccable for KRC Genk, contributing to 32 goals this season. Out of that total, he’s netted 22 himself and it shows a massive improvement in his previous performances.

Out of those 22 goals, 8 have come in the Europa League and that means he’s outscored every single Arsenal player in the tournament.

The Gunners may be in the semi-final but their top goalscorer at the moment is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with five goals. While they could make the finals, the Gunners really need new additions.

A direct and very rapid winger, Leandro Trossard is someone who loves getting into attacking positions. The Genk forward puts his pace and agility to great use, both offensively and defensively. Arsenal have missed that this season, often depending on various other players to add that width.

Conclusion

Leandro Trossard might not be the Neymar or even the Lorenzo Insigne that Arsenal fans might be calling out for, but he is certainly a class act.

His potential is very high and with time he will improve even further. That is something Arsenal need to take advantage of if the club want to have a bright future.

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
