Arsenal raiding Dortmund to sign this versatile 20-year-old gem would be a brilliant coup for Emery

Arsenal Opinion: Why Arsenal need to make a move for Jacob Bruun Larsen

While Sven Mislintat may have left, it seems that Arsenal’s obsession with stealing players from Borussia Dortmund isn’t over yet. The Gunners have already brought in Sokratis, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and have been linked with a move for Dan-Axel Zagadou.

Now, the Sun has reported that the North London side are keen on a move for Jacob Bruun Larsen. It’s a rather audacious yet brilliant move for the club, given the fact that they are operating on a tiny budget.

The Mirror had previously reported that Arsenal have only around £40 million to spend outright, meaning that the club will have to use cunning add-ons plus a payment plan to get any move done.

With the financial aspect in mind, signing Bruun Larsen seems like the ideal move.

Barely 20, the Danish star has risen from the depths of the Dortmund youth system, flourishing game after game. A six-month loan spell to VfB Stuttgart changed the course of his time at Dortmund, with the young winger showcasing his skills.

With Jadon Sancho ruling the wonder-kid spotlight at Borussia Dortmund, the other stars at the Waldestadium do go under the radar. Bruun Larsen is one such name and the 20-year-old would arguably be the perfect winger/forward for Arsenal.

Blessed with great speed and surprising strength, he’s hard to push off the ball. But combine that with his lethal eye for the goal and suffice to say, he’ll only improve going forward. Larsen has been used all over the pitch, with his frame and athleticism helping him adapt easily.

This includes playing as a left-back, a right-back, as a wing-back on either side, as an attacking midfielder, a centre-forward and even in his preferred left-wing spot. That is where the 20-year-old really thrives, netting at a prolific rate at youth levels.

He finished his final season with 20 goals and 13 assists for Dortmund’s youth side. If Unai Emery can help him rediscover that form, Larsen would be a lucrative investment for Arsenal.
