Let’s take a look at how the Arsenal players fared last night.

Petr Cech – 7.5

A fans’ favorite already with his classy displays between the sticks. Helped Arsenal launch early attacks and cut a confident figure throughout.

Hector Bellerin – 7

Dealt well with the threat of Eden Hazard. Allowed Arsenal to have an attacking outlet down the right flank.

Per Mertesacker – 7

Was caught off-guard at times, but looked solid overall. Seems to be enjoying his best form over the last couple of seasons.

Laurent Koscielny – 8

Excellent reader of the game. Didn’t spare Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao an inch. Top class performance from the Frenchman.

Nacho Monreal – 6.5

Willian kept the Spaniard busy all afternoon with his sharp movement but the left back was up to it. Seems to be establishing as the first choice left back.

Francis Coquelin – 7

A good passer and a good tackler. Adds composure to Arsenal’s midfield. Dealt well with the threat of Fabregas.

Santo Cazorla – 6.5

Spurned a glorious chance at the end to make it a more convincing scoreline, but would be pleased with his industrious performance.

Aaron Ramsey – 7

His best position is central midfield, but he seems to be thriving in a free role in midfield. Lively performance all throughout the pitch.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 8.5

Has had his tryst with injuries but if he can stay fit, he has all the attributes to become a top player. Great finish for the goal.

Mesut Özil – 6.5

Oozed class early on but his influence diminished as he started to fatigue.

Theo Walcott – 6.5

His running ability was on show, but there was little service with Arsenal playing more on the counter. Needs to work on the timing of his runs.

Substitutes

Olivier Giroud – 5

Little service to work with. But remains a vital player for Arsenal this season.

Mikel Arteta – 5

Kept things tight in midfield in the dying minutes.

Kieran Gibbs – 5

Denied by Courtois late on as he burst through in a central position.
