Arsenal Player Ratings For Their 5-0 Demolition Over Aston Villa – Ozil And Cazorla Steal The Show

It was a fabulous outing for the Gunners as they smashed five past a struggling Aston Villa side to boost their chances of breaking into the top four. A consistent comeback from two players returning to full fitness and a comfortable performance certainly marked a clear improvement in form as the Gunners started the month with a bang. Here are the Arsenal player’s ratings:

David Ospina: 8/10

He was on top form for the Gunners despite not being tested much in the game. He produced good saves whenever called upon and had good presence in the box especially in the final minutes of the game to deny Ashley Westwood’s wonderful shot.

Hector Bellerin: 8.5/10

He marked a great performance with a peach of a goal from outside the box. He was solid at the back and as lively as ever moving forward and contributing to the offense.

Per Mertesacker: 7/10

Aston Villa were so poor in their offense that Arsenal’s central defenders were barely troubled. Mertesacker had a comfortable field day with absolutely no challenge.

Laurent Koscielny: 7/10

Had a similar game to Mertesacker as he had nothing to do against Benteke, who was not being given appropriate service by the midfielders.

Nacho Monreal: 7/10

He was solid in the wings and had composure throughout the game. Had a balanced approach to offense and defense and barely had any trouble negotiating with Villa wingers.

Francis Coquelin: 7.5/10

He was solid in possession and holding the game for the Gunners. He has now made the position his own and had a good day against a team low on intent and confidence.

Aaron Ramsey: 7/10

He contributed well in a box to box role and was ever present for support. Fell short of speed on occasions but otherwise had a solid game. Had a good shot on target.

Santi Cazorla: 9/10 MOTM

He dominated the game with his playmaking prowess and his skill on the ball. Stepped up with two good assists and scored was lucky to see his penalty fisted in by Guzan. His form is on the rise and would be a key player for the future games.

Theo Walcott: 8/10

He proved that he was back to full fitness and form as he scored a good curling goal. He was lively on the break giving Arsenal a new dimension for offense. Was substituted later so as to be rested for the coming game against Spurs.

Mesut Ozil: 8/10

Ozil was good on the day as he showed a world class piece of skill when he sent Giroud through on goal. He also stepped up with a goal despite the finish being a bit scrappy. He would want this form to stay with him for the rest of the season.

Olivier Giroud: 8/10

He scored a goal with an improvised chip after a bad touch on the ball. He had a good game anyway and has been consistently performing this season, giving Arsenal some force in the striking department.
