Arsenal Player Ratings Against Manchester City: Solid Performances From Chambers & Ramsey

Arsenal

Arsenal ran out comfortable winners against Manchester City to lift the Community shield last night, picking up from where they left off against Hull City in the FA Cup finals. It was pretty much one way traffic for the Gunners as goals from Cazorla, Ramsey and an incredible shot by Giroud were enough to dethrone the league Champions.

Here are the Arsenal player ratings from the game:

Szczesny: Looked solid throughout the game and made some crucial interceptions. The polish International has got some serious competition this season with the arrival of Ospina, but performances like these would mean that he can keep hold of the number 1 spot. 7.5/10

Debuchy: A decent debut for the French full back. Looked very much solid in going forward and linking up with Alexis Sanchez, but was a tad uncomfortable when tracking back. On the whole a very solid debut. 6.5/10

Chambers: The most impressive of the back four. It looks like Wenger has already replaced Vermaelen with a perfect center back. Chambers made some crucial blocks and stood solid against the likes of Jovetic, Dzeko and Silva. 8/10

Koscielny: Had a good start to the game and organized things at the back in the absence of Per Mertesacker. But to the dismay of the Arsenal fans, he was subbed off at half time and Wenger revealed that he fears a achilles tendon problem. 6/10

Gibbs: Preferred ahead of Nacho Monreal, and the English International did the job to his potential. Was equally good in attacking as well as defending. 6.5/10

Arteta: Not a ground breaking performance, but not a bad one either. Managed to do his usual duties, but looked weak when defending counter attacks. 6.5/10

Wilshere: Let’s hope he remains injury free for sometime. Made a sharp start to the game and remained solid until subbed off. 6.5/10

Cazorla: The man who opened the scoring in the FA Cup finals, did it again, but this time to give the lead to the Gunners. An impressive performance from the Spaniard made all the talks about his possible move to Atletico fade away. Cazorla will remain an integral part of the squad even after the arrival of Sanchez. 7.15/10

Ramsey: Picked up from where he left off last season. The Welshman looked comfortable in possession and linked up well with new signing Alexis. If he remains injury free this term, he can certainly beat his own achievement from last season. 8/10

Sanchez: Yet to gel in the team, but a very good debut from the former Barcelona man. Looked dangerous whenever he was on the ball and it will only be a matter of time before he and Walcott run down the opposition flanks in counter attacks. 6.5/10

Sanogo: May be this is the season for Sanogo. Din’t get on the score sheet nor threaten City’s defence too much, but was effective in the final third and made two assists on the day.  7/10

Giroud: After a lackluster performance in the Emirates cup, Giroud made a name for himself as he came on as a substitute in the second half to score a spectacular goal from long range. 7/10
