Arsenal player ratings against Crystal Palace: Mesut Ozil Tops the List

Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 2-1 and it was a good performance from the North Londoners, who opened their Premier League account. Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez scored for the visitors while Joel Ward pulled one in for the hosts. Here are the players’ ratings for each and every player

Cech had a solid game except for the goal and perhaps he could’ve done better at the time but there’s no denying that it was a veery well taken goal by Ward. He had a very convincing game overall.

Hector Bellerin – 7

Bellerin had a good game as he made decisive contributions on both ends of the pitch. His terrifying pace is the reason Arsene Wenger decided to go with him instead of Mathieu Debuchy, and Bellerin justified that. decison.

Per Mertesacker – 6.5

Mertesacker improved on last week’s showing by maintaining his ground and defending with composure, as we know he usually does. His crucial defensive headers to clear all the incoming crosses in the latter stages of the game was crucial to Arsenal getting the result.

Laurent Koscielny – 7

Koscielny had another first class game as he put an end to almost all threats coming Arsenal’s way and dealt with Wickham in a dominating manner. He also helped put Monreal on a few occcasions.

Monreal was solid on the day maintaining his excellent form. He dealt with the pacey Zaha in a very apt way and regularly delivered good crosses in the final thrid.

Coquelin had a snese of authority in midfield as he pulled the strings from behind. He proved to be needed cover for the Arsenal defense. He had an excellent game overall.

Santi Cazorla – 6.5

Cazorla showed glimpses of last season’s form as he helped in transition from defense to attack. His passing was top class and with excellent composure.

Aaron Ramsey – 6

Ramsey again put in a shift on the rigth often interchanging with Ozil. He was a livewire throughout the game.

Mesut Ozil – 9

Ozil was in fine fettle as he controlled Arsenal’s passing in the final thrid. He had some moments of magic which left Palace defenders rooted to their spots. His cross for Giroud’s goal was of a very high quality.

Alexis Sanchez – 8

Alexis was exceptional considering this was his first game of the season. He was involved throughout the game and had some great chances to score goals but that again comes with game time. He’s rediscovering his form.

Olivier Giroud – 8

Giroud delivered when needed. His was an exceptional goal taken extremely well in the time and space he had. He played some sublime first time passes and flicks on the edge of the penalty area.
