Arsenal Planning For A Surprise £6m Bid For A New Keeper? And Rumours On Ebenezer Assifuah

When all the transfer rumours in and out of Emirates stadium are breezing around Suarez and Higuain, it is a different dish this time. Gunners officials are in talks with Newcastle United on a possible move of their goalkeeper Tim Krul to Arsenal.

The 25-year old Dutch International is Newcastle’s foremost man in front of the net, appearing 24 times last season in the Premier League.

Gunners boss Wenger is known to be a long-term admirer of Dutch international Krul, who has established himself as the Newcastle’s number one in the last 18 months with a string of excellent performances.

Wenger, already has the Polish duo Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski as his first choice goalkeepers (although preferring the former), wants to create a new dimension in this position. And having sold Vito Mannone to Sunderland, bringing in a third keeper would surely intensify the fight for the first team berth.

The primary target of Wenger (or as per reports) has been QPR’s Julio Cesar but there has not been any significant progress with that and interests from Italian sides Napoli and Roma have further raised the questions on whether the Brazilian would remain in England.

So, without wasting any time, the Frenchman has started looking for Cesar’s alternative which at this moment have been Krul incidentally.

As reported by the Dailymail, Newcastle are eyeing up two new keepers, amid mounting fears they may lose first choice Tim Krul to Arsenal. PSV Eindhoven’s Jeroen Zoet and Norwegian team Viking’s goalkeeper Rune Jarstein are the reported targets of Newcastle, with Zoet’s negotiations on the final stages, Newcastle will have to assure first team chances for either one of the keepers which leaves the door open for the Gunners and if Wenger comes up with a right kind of money, he can certainly land Tim Krul at the Emirates.

According to reports in Holland, Arsenal are ready to offer up to £6million to land the 25-year-old, who only penned a new five-year-deal on Tyneside in 2012.

In other news, Arsenal are also planning to enlist another rookie forward, Ebenezer Assifuah. This Ghanaian Under-20 player scored six times in FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Turkey, which was held recently. His feat helped him to get the Golden Boot Awards, which is given to the highest goal scorer of the tournament.

And it seems that he has impressed many by his skills, Wenger being one of them. Assifuah’s performance earned him rave reviews from many quarters, prompting Wenger to monitor him more closely. Besides that, he has also showed his interest to play in England and Italy, which might have provoked Wenger to take the first step.
