Arsenal Plan To Move In For Manchester United Target, But Why The Gunners Should Think Twice Before Signing The Brazilian

The changes at Barcelona are in motion with yet another player being linked with a move away from the Nou Camp, while there has been talk about Loinel Messi leaving the Nou Camp for greener (Bluer) pastures, Daniel Alves is set to move away from the Nou Camp after he recently said that he would not be signing a new contract at the Catalan club.

Alves has been a regular at Barcelona from 2008 and has won a plethora of trophies with the Spanish giants but another colourful chapter of Alves would be coming to an end at Barcelona and him being a free agent has set a lot of clubs on alert as they try to woo the Brazilian defender for one more contract at their club.

A brilliant attacker but questions about his defensive ability

The 4 time La Liga and 2 time Champions League winner was the third most expensive defender of all time when he was signed from Sevilla by Barcelona and is known for his marauding runs up and down the right flank of the team, while his attacking skills, especially his dribbling and crossing has never been in doubt it is his defensive ability which has been his weakest point.

Arsenal along with Manchester United have been targeting the 31 year old and it would be best for the London based club to steer clear from signing the Brazilian, not because he is not good enough to play in the team or isn’t good enough at this age but he isn’t what Arsenal need at the moment.

Arsenal already have the likes of Nacho Monreal, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers in the first team who have been doing really well in their roles as the right back, while none of them can be considered to be as good as Dani Alves in the attacking sense, they surely hold their own when it comes to their defensive duties, in fact Debuchy is not the worst when it comes to attacking the opposition.

Alves should be played more as a right midfielder rather than a right back and Arsenal do not need to sign the player because they do not need another attacker in their squad at the moment, unless of course Alves takes a pay cut to arrive at the Emirates. The Brazilian would be looking for one final big pay day before he calls time on his playing career and Arsenal should not be seen as the option for the Brazilian.

Arsenal need defenders to do their job, they have had no issues with the attack this season but their defence and goalkeeping have been problems, they seem to have fixed their issue with the defensive midfielder position thanks to the brilliant displays of Francis Coquelin and instead of moving for Alves, Arsenal should look for better defenders who can help them shut up shop when it is required.
