Arsenal Opinion: 3 Reasons Why Signing This Argentine Gem Is A Top Deal For The Gunners

Arsenal seem to be really busy with their scouts this season, as usual another wonder kid has been linked with a move to the Gunners and it seems that only paperwork is in the way before the deal goes through to sing the 16-year-old Maxi Romero from Velez Sarsfield.

The Argentine has been dubbed the next Lionel Messi, like most young players who are expected to do well in the future, but this is another young player signing for Arsenal, hopefully in the next few days the deal should be concluded. The midfielder/attacker has not played for the senior squad as of yet, but he has been tracked for a few months by Arsenal and has been reportedly training with the first team. If he does sign for the Gunners he would probably stay in Argentina and with Velez for a couple of more seasons before he comes to London to play for Arsenal. Wenger is known for signing such young raw gems (youth stars) and polish them into world-class superstars.

We look at 3 reasons why this is a top deal for the gunners

Let him grow

The best part of this deal is that Maxi would be allowed to stay in Argentina for a couple of years at least to help his growth. Rather than bringing a raw 16 year old and tearing him away from his home and comfortable surroundings, Arsenal would let him develop in Argentina for 2 years, that would be more than enough for him to learn more about the game and for Arsenal to know just what they have brought. This would be both a logical and economical solution to the signing even though the deal is a little costly for a 16 year old, rumours state that Arsenal might have to pay £4.5 million to sign the youngster.

You don’t get South American talent easily

It isn’t easy getting hold of good South American talent and with Arsenal making a move early, they might have made one of the shrewdest signings from an English side. Everyone talks about Messi, Dybala and Aguero and while English clubs do track them, they do not sign them for various reasons. Arsenal might be taking a shot in the dark but with young players you never really know who is going to turn up as what, still spending £4.5 million is better than spending £30 million in 4 years’ time.

Arsenal are planning for a future strike force

Arsenal have had many issues regarding their young strikers but making a move for Maxi seems like a good move, he is a good striker and is tipped to become one of the best in the world but not currently. He should stay in Argentina and become better and in a couple of years’ time, Arsenal can make the decision to bring him to England or to let him play in some other league and help his development.
