Why Arsenal Should Not Sell This Copa America Star At Any Cost This Summer

Arsenal are no more a “selling club” and are looking to make a serious challenge for various titles in the upcoming season, after failing to win the Premier League last term. The Gunners finished in second spot behind winners Leicester City, though the difference between the two sides was 10 points. Arsene Wenger will want to add more high quality stars to his squad, in order to provide a better challenge this time around.

Signing players will not just be the only concern that the French manager would have, as there is a need to retain all the important stars as well. Despite his harsh stand, it seems that Serie A champions Juventus are now targeting one key player in Wenger’s squad, whom the Arsenal boss would surely not want to lose.

The player currently linked with a move to Turin is Chile international Alexis Sanchez, who guided his national team recently to a second successive Copa America triumph, as they beat rivals Argentina in the finals on penalties.

Though the Italian giants were interested in signing the 27 year old winger, reports had suggested that the north London outfit had refused to sell.

The winger won the Golden Ball award for the tournament, for his three goals and a single assist that he claimed during the course of the competition, which has attracted the attention of a lot of top clubs across Europe.

In response to the Old Lady’s interest, the English giants are now planning to offer Sanchez a new deal to keep him at the club till 2020, as confirmed.

This becomes quite essential as the attacker is a certain match-winner, who scores some crucial goals for the Londoners, which helped them secure a top four finish in the 2014-15 season.

Though Alexis was overused last term after the Copa America triumph and suffered burn-out and eventually an injury, he still managed to make 41 appearances for the club in total, in all competitions, scoring 17 goals with 9 assists to his name.

He has looked quite impressive with his pace and dribbling ability so far that he was very easily settled into the style of football in the top flight of English football and can be an asset to any domestic or foreign rival, with the form that he is in currently.

Wenger will be desperate to retain his services, as he is not just good at playing the passing game, but also strong in set-pieces and his finishing is sublime as well.

Despite various speculations in the past month or so, the French boss has failed to add too many reinforcements to the squad so far and will want that the former Barcelona man does not consider a move back to Italy and gives his long-term commitment to Arsenal.

It will really be interesting to see what happens next, as all big clubs are looking to sign more astonishing stars in the current transfer window and Sanchez would definitely be on their wish-list.
