Why Arsenal Must Stand Firm This Time When Manchester City Try To Lure Yet Another Attacking Talent From The Emirates

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has emerged as a £25million target for Manchester City as he gets set to face them in the Premier League

Arsenal have been one of the most successful teams across Europe when we talk about developing players, as the Gunners have created and as we said, developed a big amount of great players throughout these years, and you can see that in names like Cesc Fabregas or Ashley Cole. It can be either through their academy or having prominent players in first-team squad, but Arsene Wenger’s team has always known how to make big figures.

In recent years we have seen the rise of more and more players with these features, but unfortunately for North London team, those players hardly ever stay in the team for a long time. With the growing number of teams trying to acquire big names when they are still young, Arsenal youngsters are unlikely to have a long run at Emirates Stadium.  It seems like this is not going to be the exception, as Wenger’s squad could be facing the departure of one of his latest gems.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain arrived at Arsenal in 2011 after having a great season with Southampton, when he was only 17. Since then, The Ox became one of the most talented players in England. Now, 5 years after that, as he’s showing great performances with Arsenal this season, Oxlade-Chamberlain has seen likes Manchester City trying to acquire his signature according to several rumours. However, seeing the good game displayed by the kid, Arsenal shouldn’t let go the young lad, so it’s time to discuss the three main reasons why they shouldn’t let him go.

Lack of opportunities

It is not a secret that Manchester City counts with one of the most complete staff in the world, as you can find young and prominent players on loan due to the lack of opportunities they have at Etihad. Alex can see a lot of minutes in Arsenal if he stays in North London team. There is no need to sell “The Ox” right now.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain started in the 2-1 defeat at Everton but was hauled off for Alex Iwobi with 20 minutes to go

Big competition

Adding to the lack of opportunities, Oxlade-Chamberlain could have a huge competition for his position if he can make it in the first team. Alex would have to share his role with Kevin De Bruyne, considered the most important player of Manchester City at this time, and not only with De Bruyne, but Raheem Sterling, another guy who is having a wonderful time at Etihad Stadium this term.

If Manchester City have good players, most of them are midfielders, so there is no reason to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain to Man City at this moment.

He could have a bigger role in Arsenal in the near future

No one knows what is going on with both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez contracts; therefore, if those two decide to leave Arsenal anytime in the future, Alex could become the next offensive leader of the team alongside Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud. Arsenal is Alex’s house, so, there is no doubt that the Gunners will need the boy more in the future than they do now. He can have a bright career at Emirates, or he can leave Wenger ranks to experiment in Manchester City or any other team.
