Predicted Germany Lineup To Face England In The International Friendly

World Cup winners in 2014, Germany have been impeccable in the qualifiers for the next edition as they stand on top of Group C with just a couple of games to go in the first round of the group stage in their Road to Russia. Germany face a trip to Azerbaijan in their qualifier this break but they will be in action on Wednesday when they welcome Gareth Southgate’s English national team to the Signal Iduna Park for a friendly. Their last game ended in an 8-0 victory over San Marino but they will have a greater challenge in this game with England also going strong in the qualifying campaign. Joachim Low is expected to test his options but would go with a strong side.

The Squad:

Bernd Leno, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Kevin Trapp, Jonas Hector, Benedikt Hoewedes, Mats Hummels, Joshua Kimmich, Shkodran Mustafi, Sebastian Rudy, Antonio Rudiger, Niklas Sule, Julian Brandt, Emre Can, Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane, Julian Weigl, Timo Werner, Andre Schurrle,, Lukas Podolski

Team News:

Germany are without the likes of Mesut Ozil, Julian Draxler, Mario Gomez and Manuel Neuer who are all injured. Former Arsenal star Lukas Podolski should captain the side in what might be his final appearance in Germany shirt.

Formation: 4- 3-3

GK – Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Though constantly criticized at the Camp Nou, Ter Stegen is Neuer’s deputy for Low and should start this game at Dortmund.

RB – Benedikt Hoewedes

The Schalke full back has been one of the most productive players in his position in the Bundesliga this season and should start as a part of the back-4 for Germany.

CB – Mats Hummels

The former Dortmund man will be back at the Signal Iduna Park to lead his side’s back line against cross country rivals England in this interesting tie.

CB – Shkodran Mustafi

Arsenal’s summer buy Mustafi has cemented a place in the first team at the Emirates and he should partner Hummels at the heart of the defence for Germany.

LB – Antonio Rudiger

Arguably one of the best full-backs in Germany at the moment, Rudiger has been a mainstay for Italian side AS Roma this season and should complete the back line in this game.

CDM – Julain Weigl

Adding to the mettle of the German midfield should be the 21-year-old Dortmund midfielder who will hope to take advantage of the home conditions.

CM – Toni Kroos

The Ream Madrid man has been influential in his side’s run in Spain and also in Europe. Low should stick with him for this tie.

CM – Sami Khedira

The 29-year Juventus man should make his 70th appearance for the national side partnering Kroos in this game against England.

RW – Thomas Muller

The Bayern Munich man will be up against a rookie in Bertrand and will hope to expose him on the flank at the Signal Iduna Park.

LW – Leroy Sane

The Manchester City man has seen regular game time under Pep Guardiola and Low will hope that he would be at his best in this friendly.

ST – Lukas Podolski

Captaining the side on the night will be the Galatasaray striker who will hope to sign off on a winning note in one of his last games for the national side.
