Arsenal Latest Including: Ramsey And A 27-Year Old Striker Target

Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal have bounced back quite well from their loss to Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League and they have since had an impressive run of form. On Wednesday night they Gunners started their Champions League campaign on a high note defeating Marseille in their home even when they were not playing to their full potential. And one player who has been particularly impressive during this period is Aaron Ramsey who has scored as many as six goals in seven appearances. Now manager Arsene Wenger has admitted his contribution to the team and has admitted his surprise in the form of Ramsey.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect him to score so many goals. He’s especially improved in his passing, his technical quality. He was always in good positions in the box. But scoring is a bit cyclic. You have periods when it goes in and others when it doesn’t. For me the most important thing is the quality of his game. Aaron is playing well and that is most important, that he continues to improve,” Wenger stated.

In 2010 Ramsey was inflicted with a disastrous injury which put his career in jeopardy. It was not clear whether he would be able to make a comeback and play at the highest level. But Wenger has mentioned that he kept his faith on him during the tough times.

“I decided to be patient with him. When you have been injured for such a long time it takes a while to get back to your best. You never know if he will come completely back. But when you are injured before 20 you come back to your normal level and improve like you have not been injured,” the Frenchman said.

It would now be brilliant for the club if Ramsey could maintain his form and perform well for the club for a long time. Ramsey who lost his Welsh captaincy due to his poor outings, got it back during Wales’ World Cup qualifier two weeks ago. Ashley Williams who was given the arm band last year, was suspended for the game against Serbia and Ramsey replaced the Swansea man. Performances like this with Arsenal, might be the stepping path for the midfielder to receive his arm band permanently.

In other news, Romanian striker and a free agent Ciprian Marica is expected to announce his future by the end of the week. He has been linked with Arsenal and West Ham United in the past, and it will be interesting to see where the striker decides to go. Released by Schalke at the end of last season, Marica has not found a club that would take him and remains a free agent.

His agent Ioan Becali recently revealed that his client was”close” to joining the Gunners, but the man himself said that there are three offers on the table.

“I am in negotiations with three teams,” the Daily Star quotes Marica as saying. “I hope I will be able to tell you the name of my next team by the end of next week.”

Marica scored six goals in 19 appearances across all competitions last season.
